Venom: The Last Dance is a 2024 American superhero film directed by Kelly Marcel, based on the Marvel Comics character Venom. It is a sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage and the fifth installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), as well as the conclusion of the Venom trilogy. Tom Hardy reprises his role as Eddie Brock/Venom, with support from Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, and Alanna Ubach. In the film, Eddie and Venom must make tough decisions as they are pursued by a mysterious military and alien monsters from Venom's homeworld.
Synopsis
Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote face a new threat
from Knull, the God of the Void, who has sent alien creatures called Xenophage
after them. Meanwhile, they are also pursued by a military force led by a
mysterious character. Eddie and Venom must work together to clear their names
and face a threat that could destroy the world.

Production
Development on the film began in December 2021 after
the release of the second film. Kelly Marcel, who previously wrote the script
for the previous Venom films, was attached to direct and write the screenplay
for the film, making his directorial debut. Tom Hardy is also involved in
writing the story with Marcel. Principal photography began in late June 2023 in
Spain. However, production was halted in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike
and resumed in November 2023 after the strike ended. The film was completed in
late February 2024.
Music
Dan Deacon was appointed as the composer for the film
in August 2024, providing a musical score that supports the dark and intense
tone of the story.
Release and Reception
"Venom: The Last Dance" premiered at the
Regal Times Square in New York City on October 21, 2024, and was widely
released in the United States on October 25, 2024. The film received mixed to
negative reviews from critics. Some praised Tom Hardy's performance and the
action sequences, while others criticized the storyline and character
development. Decider called the film "visually and narratively messy,
humorless, and overly noisy," and criticized the film's attempts at
emotional depth.
Themes and Analysis
